The Huntley Fire Protection District (HFPD) encompasses an area of
fifty-five (55) square miles. Our boundaries include the Village of Huntley,
portions of the Village of Algonquin, Hampshire, and Lake in the Hills,
unincorporated areas in both Kane and McHenry Counties. Along with a
nine-mile section of the Illinois Tollway (Interstate 90).
The current District population is
approximately 45,000, with a projection of 60,000 residents by 2010. Several
residential builders are selling lots and completed homes within currently
approved projects. The massive Del Webb/ Sun City complex already houses
3,000 residents. Commercial and industrial development exists along Route
47, Route 62 and Huntley Road. Near the I-90 interchange with Route 47 in
Kane County is the Prime Outlets Mall. This major retail area, with a
400,000 square foot shopping area and two adjacent auto dealers, draws
thousands of shoppers from throughout the Chicago area.
District Operations
HFPD presently has fifty (50) full time
members, along with twenty five (25) part time members. The department is
staffed by a Chief, 2- Deputy Chief's, Fire Marshal, Captain Director of
Training, three Shift Captains and nine Lieutenants operating under an
elected Board of Trustees. The Suppression and EMS Departments operate one
Advanced Life Support (ALS) 105’ Quint, two Advanced Life Support (ALS)
Engines, four ALS Ambulances, one 2000 gallon Tender, one Heavy Rescue
Squad, one Brush Vehicle and one Shift Commander Vehicle.
