Huntley, IL- August 18, 2016
The Huntley Fire Protection District (IL) recently attained the distinguished Accreditation Status through the Commission Fire Accreditation International (CFAI), which falls under the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE). The CPSE program, among other things, provides an excellent self-assessment and peer review process for the Huntley Fire Protection District and other fire and rescue agencies across the United States.
Accreditation status culminates over 4 years of rigorous preparation by the fire staff and scrutiny by the accreditation team. Following a period of self-assessment, a four-day on-site evaluation took place in mid-June 2016 by a team of peer assessors from across the country. The evaluation process included verification and validation of programs and services provided by the department, and in-depth reviews of Fire Department policies, principles, and practices as they relate to the more than 240 performance indicators.
Accreditation was granted and officially announced at the CPSE Annual Awards Ceremony in San Antonio, Texas on August 18, 2016.
Of the approximately 32,000 fire departments in the nation, only 220 have reached Accreditation status through 2016. This includes 12 fire departments in the State of Illinois that have been accredited. Huntley is the first Fire Department in McHenry County to achieve Accreditation. This is Huntley’s second time in the accreditation process. Huntley was originally accredited in 2009.
“This recognition as an Accredited Agency demonstrates the Fire Department’s professionalism, excellence in organizational development and strong commitment to providing outstanding fire and emergency services to our citizens,” said Chief Ken Caudle.
Most importantly, becoming an accredited fire agency allows us to enhance our quality improvement processes and continue providing the highest level of fire and rescue services to the community that the Huntley Fire Protection District protects.
